This Springfield Armory manufactured first variation receiver is for the model 1873 trapdoor rifle or carbine and is in good condition exhibiting a grayish brown patina with spots of rust. First variation receivers will have the shallow gas ports and measure 1.135" in width.

Note: Model 1873 trapdoor receivers of the first variation with the following serial numbers have been observed: 15642, 25713, 26701 & 68741.
